I’ve been reading lots of children’s books lately. I’ve noticed something interesting about Disney books. They often have multiple versions of the same story all targeted at different age groups. Thus they’ll have a picture book version of the story as well as a “junior novel” version of the story.
What a great idea! I definitely want to reach as many different age groups as possible with my story. So now I’ve decided to complicate things and write a “middle grade” version of my story along with the picture book version. I’ve signed up for a second online course called “Just Write for Middle Grade” from Emma Walton Hamilton.
It can’t hurt to have multiple different viewpoints on how to do this whole book writing thing.
